Barry Sons, an Atlanta based artist, paints in oils and pastels. His work hangs locally, as well as well as regionally. Passionate color, intensity, vibrancy, and depth permeate his land and waterscape works, which run the gamut from surreal to serene. He began his journey into art over thirty years ago under the tutelage of Mildred Hardy-McKnight, Bobbie Houston, and other private instructors.

Twinkle Nelson Board Secretary 2006- 2008

Twinkle Nelson is a watercolor artist but also enjoys pen and ink. For the past year and a half she has been studying at the Racy Chinese Brush School and applies the disciplined strokes of this ancient art to the more traditional watercolor. Her passion for travel provides endless subject matter.
 


Mary H. Derbes Board Secretary 2006- 2008

Mary Derbes has painted for more than 20 years. A juried member of the Atlanta Artists’ Center and a member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, Mary has studied painting in classes at the Atlanta College of Art; in private lessons; and in workshops with nationally known painters including Carole Barnes, Judi Betts, Virginia Cobb, Fran Larsen and Maxine Masterfield. Her work has been selected for local and regional juried shows in Louisiana and Georgia. She holds a B.A. from Maryville University, St. Louis, Missouri, and an M.A. from Emory University. She paints in watercolor, acrylics, and mixed watermedia. Her interests focus on color and texture, and many of her paintings include collage.

 


Renee Holmes Secretary (General) 2002- 2008

Renee Holmes is an artist who works in oil and acrylic. Her subjects include portraits, figures, landscapes and still lifes. Her passion is painting family life and depicting the natural goings-on in the family unit. She earned an Associates Degree in Art at Georgia Perimeter College. In addition, she has studied portrait and figure painting with well-known artists around the country and is currently studying under James Taylor, an established artist in the Atlanta area.
