AAC continues to expand the visual arts in Georgia communities through education, exhibitions and special programming.
Our artists provide art on a rotating basis to local hospitals, four area libraries, two Emory University medical clinics and in other community facilities.
AAC continues to expand its role as an arts resource by conducting outreach programs in the community. Through our WINGS Program, the AAC donates supplies to volunteers who mentor school children in free after-school arts activities.
AAC Art-Treck will include two juried exhibits to be held in Georgia cities that have limited arts opportunities. These shows may incorporate an opening reception along with an art demonstration by AAC members. The third exhibit will be held in a Georgia city that has a growing arts community. Local artists and art patrons will be invited to a lecture by a respected member of the arts community.
Over the years, AAC has participated in fund-raising events for other non-profit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross. With Hands-On Atlanta, AAC artists have painted murals in several Atlanta schools, donated art for the Grace Towns Hamilton Women's and Children's pavilion at Grady Hospital.
The Atlanta Artists Center is proud to announce it has recently expanded it's outreach program beyond Georgia arts communities when AAC became the 'sister' organization to the Iraqi Women's Art Exchange. Members are donating art supplies and images of their art for the IWAE website in a cultural exchange between the women artists in the USA and Iraq. The mission of IWAE is to provide Iraqi women the opportunity to work with various art materials for self-expression, the exploration of their creativity, the joy of learning, and their development of greater self-esteem.
