Maximum Submissions per division: Three Pieces (3).  Members can submit to more than one division during a single show but separate submission fees must be paid for each division.

Size restrictions
Gallery submissions are limited to submission size (including frame) of no larger than 48” on length or width. Outside show submission sizes may be larger or smaller and vary in size depending on the venue space.

Submission Eligibility

  • Submitting Artists must be a Member in good standing with all dues, fees and assessments paid by the deadline of show entry. Certain Shows may allow non-members.
  • ORIGINAL implies its definition. Any work that copies magazine photographs or other work in print, including advertising, is unacceptable. If work is done from a photograph, the photograph must be that of the artist, (or used with permission granted by the photographer to use same).
  • No sculpture or any work from commercial molds is accepted.
  •  Any work found in violation of these guidelines after acceptance will be removed from the exhibit.
  • A photograph shall not be over two years old. If a digital print has been used in a collage or is reprinted within two years for the purpose of obtaining a significantly different image, it is considered a new photograph, eligible for entry.
  • All work should be of the highest quality and in good taste. Any work considered by the Gallery Chairpersons to be in poor taste, or not adhering to the Georgia Obscenity Laws, will be removed and will not be eligible for judging.

Framing for all Show Submissions

  • All work must be presented ready-to-hang, with a wire attached to the frame between one-third and one-quarter of the way down the sides of the piece.
  • Stainless steel braided picture wire works best for smooth hanging.
  • Any submissions with inappropriate, loose, or damaged wiring will not be accepted and/or may be disqualified from judging.
  • Any artwork with saw tooth hangers will not be accepted.
  • Submission of art with “snap on" frames, corner-clips with glass or “easel” frames designed for tabletop use will not be accepted.
  • All works on paper must be matted (white, gray or black only) or floated and protected by glass or Plexiglas. Mat size should be appropriate to the piece.
  • Unframed gallery wrapped canvas submissions should have a minimum of a 1"stretcher depth.
  • The unframed canvas should be stapled on the back. Any unframed canvases with staples visible on the edges will not be accepted for submission.
  • Avoid brightly colored, busy or heavy framing materials that distract from your work and look amateurish.
  • Some paintings are well suited to hand-carved gold frames.  Most artwork for gallery environments will look best in modest frame moldings with clean lines and black, neutral, or wood finishes.

Wet Paintings

  • Any painting submitted that is wet anywhere on the canvas or structure and not completely dry will not be accepted and/or will be disqualified if discovered during judging.

Timing

  • Any work submitted should have been created within the past two years.

Artwork Pick-up and Removal From Storage Bins

  • All work submitted for any show that has not been accepted should be picked up within two weeks.
  • Work not removed from the gallery within (2) two months at the end of an exhibit in which it was accepted will be considered in default of the artwork removal guidelines.   A certified letter will be sent and if the artwork is not removed within two weeks after written notification, it then becomes the property of the Atlanta Artists Center. Only one written notice will be sent.
  • The artwork will then be appraised and become the property and an asset of the Atlanta Artists Center.

Sale of Work and Commission Fees

  • Unless sold, work submitted and accepted must remain in the exhibition until the close of the show, concurrent with the following show’s submission dates. Special permission must be granted by the Gallery Chairperson(s) to do otherwise.
  • AAC receives a 20% commission for any artwork sold from the Grandview Gallery, outside show, gallery matt bins or studio storage bins.  This also includes any referrals obtained through AAC. AAC also handles and executes all sales transactions and payment for the artwork. All items are subject to local sales tax.
  • Work may be removed from the gallery show on approval for three (3) days by a prospective purchaser. An approved check, or credit card for the full amount of the work is charged by the gallery, and can be refunded within 14-days in the event the work is returned within three days to the gallery.
  • Three matted pieces may be placed in the mat bins for a period of two months, at no cost, without judging. Mats must be backed with foam core or board and sealed in acetate or appropriate materials.

Disqualification of Work
Any artwork that does not adhere to the submission guidelines is subject to review by the gallery submission volunteers and gallery chair and may result in disqualification without notice prior to judging. Submission fees will not be refunded. All members are responsible for making sure their works adheres to the submission guidelines.  If you have any questions regarding your submission you should ask the submission volunteer if your artwork is acceptable.

Waiver of Responsibility

Each submission form for each exhibition sets forth a waiver of responsibility of the Atlanta Artists Center, Inc. for damage or loss suffered while work is in any gallery, in an AAC outside show or out on client approval.
