Creating Your Own Simple Linoleum Block Prints
Workshop with Katherine W. Linn
February 18-19, 2012 from 10am - 5 pm

Block prints can be used in Mixed Media, Collage or as a print.
Using traditional printmaking techniques, artists can create multiple original works of art. In this class, students will learn how to create linoleum block prints, impressions printed by hand from carved and inked blocks. Linoleum block prints, also known as linocuts, are a wonderful introduction to the world of printmaking, and they can be created without a press or extensive printmaking facilities.

All aspects of the process will be covered, from the initial drawing to the finished print. This will include preparation of the initial image, carving skills, inking, printing techniques and more. Each student will carve one or more blocks and print a portfolio of original prints to take home. During the workshop we will print the blocks on an etching press, but hand-printing techniques will also be addressed.

This workshop is suitable for students of all experience levels.

AAC Members: $200
Non-members $250
